We are delighted to share that we are partnered with Mobile Education Partnerships (MEP), a Durham-based education charity committed to organising teacher-to-teacher partnerships and providing high-quality training and support to schoolteachers in war-torn Myanmar (AKA Burma) and the country’s most remote and marginalised communities.
For the past 20 years, MEP has worked closely with teachers operating in the displaced communities of the Thai-Burma border. Many of the teachers have few if any qualifications and are struggling to reach their full potential or adequately support their students in severely under-resourced schools.
Through partner training, access to teaching materials and the opportunity to gain an internationally accredited certificate (Cambridge English Language Assessment), the teachers in these impoverished areas have a brighter future and are able to harness effective teaching methods which will benefit the communities they work in.
As a North East business, it was important to us to support a small, local charity where we could make a real, visible and positive impact.
With the ongoing civil war and the recent military coup in 2021, education within Myanmar is in crisis, and MEP is having to adapt and provide innovative training via mobile phones and the Internet. The tenacity and flexibility of MEP are admirable and the charity is continuing to promote peace through education.

In a bid to fund refugee education and support displaced teachers and families in Myanmar, members of the iPac team will be taking part in a variety of fundraising activities throughout 2023 to help ensure that MEP’s invaluable work continues, especially during a time when the charity is faced with extremely challenging circumstances.
MEP is always looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals to join their team. If you’re interested in fundraising or volunteering for MEP, visit their website.
